Where the red fern grows : Where the Red Fern Grows is, quite simply, a wonderful story for all ages and for all time. A boy's yearning for two Redbone Hound dogs, which his parents couldn't afford during the desolate times of the Depression in the Ozarks, is the setting for this truly triumphant film. Grandpa has a pair of Redbone hound puppies waiting for Billy just like the ones he had as a boy; and the hounds and a young neighborhood boy named Wilson become Billy's closest friends and together they help Billy to rediscover the gift of giving and caring
